Located not far from me is the Amish Town of Intercourse, PA.  It is a small village where most of the Theme of the town is based on the Amish tradition.  The Horse & Buggy above is their main means of transportation.

Remember that in one of my last Posts I had stated about the Amish people do not like their photo taken?  Well, here is what happens.  The bike that you see is one of the common bicycles you see around the area.  It’s like a scooter.  No pedals at all.  I observed this Amish Lady coming towards me, so I asked her to shoot a photo.  She nodded as if to say, OK.  Then she turned her back to me, as not to show her face in the camera.  This is what happens all the time.  It’s just their belief.  Why, I don’t know.

Standing on the corner of the main street in Intercourse, I caught this horse & buggy coming down the street from my left side.  Since I don’t hear that well out of my left ear, I did not hear the “clip-clop” of the horse’s hooves coming until the last minute.  I had to turn and click the shutter quick.

This is just one of the nice little homes that have all kinds of Amish gifts for sale.

Here’s another place complete with Horse & Buggy.

Here you can purchase a hand made Quilt.  They have all sizes and different patterns that are made in the general area.  These warm Quilts can get very expensive, depending on what you want.  I saw one in here for over $900.00.

Just some of the Lancaster Country Side, that is dotted with farms and open fields for farming.  Corn, Tobacco, Pumpkins, Lettuce, Melons, Tomatoes, and many other farm fresh vegetables are grown here.  It is one of the best area’s to find good fresh produce at a good price.  We go down in this area once or twice during the Summer to get great food.

Thank you for reading/commenting/following.

  1. It’s thought to be breaking the second commandment about graven images: “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.”
