Back in the early 1900’s this old Bridge used to carry trains over the Schuylkill River, which you see below.  Now, it’s part of a Heritage Walking Trail.

Growing up in Hamburg, PA as a youngster, I used to play on this ole’ Bridge.  Back then there was no protection fence.  Just rusted tracks from trains of long ago.

The ole’ Bridge still stands with it’s original supports.

This was never there years ago.  Built to access the old Bridge.  The Heritage Trail continues in the distance.  The original bridge supports are on the left and right.

HAMBURG HISTORICAL AREA – has lots of History behind this little town that I grew up in.  Much of the History behind Hamburg can still be seen when you know where to look, like me.  Hamburg was rich in Industry years ago, but now has lost much of it due to reasons that I don’t know.  The Schuylkill Canal passed right thru here, but now long gone.

Thank you
